Kesesuaian Dan Daya Dukung Lingkungan Untuk Pengembangan Ekowisata Di Kawasan Hutan Gunung Mareje Utara Kabupaten Lombok Tengah
The North Mareje Montain Forest Area (NMMFA) is one of the important
areas for ecotourism development in Lombok Island. However, due integrated
ecotourism management plan (RPET) currently is not available, this area has
been degraded, and caused natural disasters. To support RPET establishment,
this study was conducted to analyze the suitability, carrying capacity of the
environment and economic valuation of ecotourism development. The data used in
this study include attractiveness and naturalness of the landscape, biogeophysical
limiting factors, accessibility and characteristics of tourists. Data collection is
carried out by field observations, surveys and literature studies. The sampling
technique uses is purposive sampling. Analysis of environmental suitability
conducted by weighted linear combination (WLC) method. The environmental
carrying capacity assessment uses Douglas Method followed with economic
valuation using travelling cost method (TCM). While the evaluation of ecotourism
development was conducted by t-test. Based on the analysis, it can be explained
that the suitable area for ecotourism development in the NMMFA is 1.235,2 ha or
75,8% of the total forest area. Effective carrying capacity (ECC) of the suitable
class (S1 + S2 + S3) is 32.729 tourists/day. The willingness to pay (WTP) of
tourists has been visits to KHGMU is IDR. 347.579/visit and the economic value
of natural tourism produced is IDR. 3.72M/year. The evaluation of ecotourism
development using t-test showed that the actual land use area in each object of
natural tourist attraction (ODTWA) was smaller than available potential area.
Likewise, the number of actual vistors is smaller than ECC. The actual economic
value produced also smaller than the potential economic. It shows that the
ecotourism management in KHGMU was yet optimal. A new paradigm of forest
management is required by placing ecotourism as one of core business of forest
resources conservation and improve sustainable ecotourism management aspects.
