Pemanfaatan Tandan Kosong Sawit (Tks) Dan Spent Bleaching Earth (Sbe) Sebagai Bahan Baku Pembuatan Briket Dengan Variasi Komposisi Bahan Baku Dan Ukuran Partikel Tandan Kosong Sawit
ABSTRACT
The use of spent bleaching earth as an additional material in the manufacture of
briquettes is an effort to utilize solid waste resulting from the bleaching of crude palm
oil (CPO) which has not been optimally utilized. The purpose of this study was to
determine the effect of differences in raw material composition and particle size of oil
palm empty bunches on the quality of the resulting briquettes. The process of making
briquettes in this study with variations in the composition of the raw material
composition of palm empty bunches of charcoal with spent bleaching earth 100: 0,
90:20, 80:20, 70:30, 60:40 (%) and the particle size of oil palm empty bunches 80,
100, and 120 mesh. The fixed variables used were carbonization temperature of
450oC of empty palm fruit bunches for 90 minutes, SBE was heated at 232oC for 90
minutes, adhesive concentration of 6% and pressing pressure of 100 bar. Drying is
done indoors for 24 hours then oven for 1 hour with a temperature of 105oC. The
results showed that the optimal briquette lies in the ratio of the charcoal composition
of empty palm fruit bunches and spent bleaching earth 60%: 40% with a particle size
of 120 mesh. The test results on the quality of briquettes at the optimal conditions
obtained a moisture content of 3.5% ash content 4.5%, volatile matter content 4%,
88% fixed carbon content, compressive strength 14.07 kg / cm2 calorific value of
5697.93 cal / gr , a density of 0.70 gr / cm3. Briquette flame test for 74 minutes 48
seconds.
