Studi Karakteristik Dan Potensi Daur Ulang Sampah Di Kampus Uin Suska Riau
ABSTRACT
UIN SUSKA Riau Campus as one of the universities in Pekanbaru is inseparable
from the problem of waste management, which until now has not been an optimal
alternative for waste management. This study aims to determine the potential for
recycling and mass balance of waste at the UIN SUSKA RIAU Campus. Sampling
was carried out for 8 consecutive days by directly testing the waste characteristics
sample analysis (proximate analysis), namely: moisture content, volatile content,
ash content, fixed carbon according to the composition / component of the waste.
Sampling locations were conducted in 3 faculties, 3 offices, 4 supporting facilities.
As well as the energy content was tested at the Pekanbaru City ESDM
Laboratories using a calorimeter bomb with a sample according to the
composition / component. The results of the proximate analysis of waste per
component of lecturing activities showed the highest water content, namely
organic (food scraps, leaves, twigs, paper) by 21.12%, volatile levels ie plastic by
97.66%, ash content ie rubber by 19.23 %, Fixed carbon which is 99.17% glass.
Office waste, namely organic water content of 27.91%, volatile content of Textile
of 93.85%, ash content of rubber of 18.45%, fixed carbon of iron of 99.53%.
Waste supporting facilities, namely organic water content of 23.80%, volatile
content of plastics of 97.85%, ash content of rubber 13.56%, fixed carbon namely
glass of 99.51%. The highest heat value of waste is owned, namely styrofoam of
6,679.11 cal / gr. The mass balance of the weight of daily garbage with an
average weight of 556.28 kg / day, the waste that can be utilized is 436,58 kg / day
and the weight of the garbage dumped is 119.68 kg / day. The recommended
recycling potential is composting of 74.95%, while recycling is 24.33%.
