Pembuatan Geopolimer Ringan Berbasis Fly Ash Batubara Dengan Penambahan Styrofoam
Light geopolymers are the result of activation of SiO2 and Al2O3 compounds on precursors which are reacted with a high concentration of alkaline activator solution in the presence of light aggregates. The addition of lightweight aggregates can reduce the high density of geopolymers and can utilize fly ash waste from industrial by products. The aim of this research is to make light geopolymer based on coal fly ash with the addition of styrofoam as a lightweight aggregate and to determine the effect of weight percent styrofoam and variations in the addition of styrofoam to the specific gravity of the mortar and its compressive strength.Making Styrofoam begins with the preparation of fly ash and sand, crushing Styrofoam to size1 x 2 mm, 2 x 5 mm and 1 x 5 mm, making an alkaline activator solution with 10 M NaOH concentration, then ending with the making of a light geopolymer by adding as much Styrofoam1,5%- wt, 2,5%-wt dan 3,5%-wt.Morphological analysis results showed an increase in the number of cavities that were formed more and more along with the increasing amount of styrofoam added. The highest compressive strength was obtained at 8.8 MPa in the size of styrofoam 1 x ≥ 5 mm. Lowest density of 936,18 kg/m3at 3,5%-wt styrofoam size 2 x 5 mm.
