Pengaruh Suhu Dan Rasio Katalis Cao / Bahan Baku Pada Proses Co-Pyrolysis Dari Tandan Kosong Sawit Dan Ban Bekas Motor Menjadi Bio-Oil
ABSTRACT
Bio-oil can be produced by catalytic co-pyrolysis process, that was a thermal
degradation processed that involves two or more raw materials that have a high
hydrogen index (H/C)eff and the presence of catalysts to increase the quality of bio-oil.
The raw materials used in this study are empty fruit bunches (EFB) and used motor
vehicle tires using a CaO catalyst. The purposes of this research were produce bio-oil
from a mixture of EFB and motor vehicle tires, determine the effect of the CaO catalyst
ratio and temperature on the bio-oil yield, and determine the physical and chemical
characteristics of the bio-oil produced. The catalytic co-pyrolysis process used 10
grams of mixture of EFB and tires (1:1), CaO catalyst with a variation of CaO/raw
material ratio (1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, and 5% w/w) and temperature variations (400°C,
450°C, 500°C, and 550°C), nitrogen gasflowing at a flow rate of 500 mL/min for 45
minutes. The highest yield of 36% was generated on the used of CaO/raw material
ratio of 3% w/w at 550oC. The characteristics of the bio-oil obtained were density 0.914
gr/ml, viscosity 4.12 cSt, pH 4.2, and heating value of 43.387 Mj/Kg. The biggest
compounds contained in bio-oil were acetic acid, acetone and alcohol, and a small
amount of phenol compounds.
