Ekstraksi Pati Dari Batang Sawit
ABSTRACT
The replanting process produced 70.2 tons per hectare of solid palm oil waste.
Utilization of palm oil waste has been limited. One alternative to deal with this
problem is by extracting starch contained in the palm stems. The purpose of this
study is to extract starch and determine the effect of process conditions on starch
quality. The influence of process conditions was studied using the surface
response methodology (RSM) with the Box-Behnken design. Research data were
processed using the Design Expert 7.0 program. starch extraction was carried out
under atmospheric conditions with 125 gram weight of palm stem powder, sodium
metabisulfite concentration (0.25%, 0.5% and 0.75%), immersion time (12 hours,
24 hours and 36 hours) and liquid ratio solids (10/1, 15/1 and 20/1 b / b). The
value of each response is, yield 1.35% - 2.06% and starch content of 9.03% -
18.98%. The most influential response to starch extraction is quadratic immersion
time.
