Soap is a cleanser made by the chemical reaction between potassium or sodium with fatty
acids from vegetable oils or animal fats, while Hand Wash that was a specifically liquid
soap for washing hands to be clean, fragrant, soft, and safe for the skin. However, during
the 19th pandemic, hand washing soap was needed because it was needed to break the chain
of the virus from spreading. The purpose of this research that was to formulate aloe vera
gel handwashing soap with non-iodine NaCl variation, to analyze the resulting soap,
namely density, viscosity, foam stability, pH, ingredients that are not soluble in ethanol,
and free fatty acids, and to determine the quality of handwashing soap that was produced
by comparing with SNI. The manufacture of handwashing soap begins with weighing 25
grams of textphone then mixed with 250 ml of distilled water, stirred using a mechanical
stirrer with a stirring speed of 625 rpm, 12.5 grams of sodium sulfate, non-iodine NaCl of
5; 15; 25; 35; and 45 grams, 10 grams of aloe vera gel, 4.3% alcohol as much as 4.315
grams, 1.105 grams of perfume and 0.033 grams of color lipstick. The mixed solution was
left for one night. Characteristic tests carried out include density, viscosity, foam stability,
pH, soap that was not soluble in ethanol, and free fatty acids. From the analysis of the
resulting soap, density test results are the range of 0.9909 - 1.0534 gram / mL, the resulting
viscosity test value was the range of 1.1132 - 277.1706 cP, the stability test value of the
foam produced is 95.652 - 97, 115%, the pH test value of the resulting soap was a range of
6.8 to 7.7, the test value of the soap that was not soluble in ethanol is 0.1-0.7% while the
free fatty acid test value of the resulting soap that was 0.62-0, 90%. The effect of the
variation in the use of NaCl on the process of making hand-washing soap was that the
resulting soap that was thicker and the foam produced more and more stable. Based on the
testing of the characteristics carried out the hand washing soap produced has met the SNI
of handwashing soap that was by SNI 2588 - 2017.
