Pekanbaru is a city that is experiencing growth progress from various sectors such as economic, social, cultural and population growth. An improperly managed environmental balance will have an impact on environmental problems such as an increase in air pollutants and forest and land fires (karhutla). One of the actions to reduce the impact of environmental damage is the use of green open space (RTH), especially in the road median park in Pekanbaru.
This study aims to inventory the diversity of plant species, evaluate landscape management (planning, maintenance, monitoring), determine the perceptions of road users and formulate a road median park management strategy in Pekanbaru City.
The research was conducted in January 2020. The research location was in 16 Median Park road in Pekanbaru City. The approach used in this study was a descriptive approach with the observation method. The data collected was presented in a narrative and discussed descriptively. The Median park road management strategy in Pekanbaru City is formulated with a SWOT analysis.
The results showed that the types of plants in the Median park road in Pekanbaru City were trees, grass and shrubs. Many of Pekanbaru city Median park road are well maintained and clean. The dominant trees in Pekanbaru City Median park road are Mahogany, Angsana and Ketapang kencana. Median plant inventory of Pekanbaru City roads, namely: Aglonena, Bougenville, Ornamental Banana, Daffodil, Red Soka, Batavia, Oleander, Rose, Tongue-In-Law, KetapangKencana, Palm, Angsana, Bintan, Pulai, Tanjung, Butterfly Tree, Azahra Plants, Japanese Bamboo, Tasbih Flowers Drasena, Yellow Pruning, PineappleHias, Landep, TapakDara, Paris Lilies, Spinach-Spinach, White Taiwan, Brazilian Lilies, Blood Symbols, Iris, Lantana, White Lilies, Bombay Sutra, Adam Hawa, Purple Flower Ruelia.
Landscape management (planning, maintenance, monitoring) of Median park road in Pekanbaru City still needs to be improved so that the management of Median road planting is more optimal. The road users' perceptions of Median park road in Pekanbaru City are good but there are still plants that must be taken care of by the Department. The Median park road management strategy in Pekanbaru City is to improve the management of the Median park road by involving schools and industrial business actors, increasing the beauty of the Median park road, improving facilities and infrastructure in the Median park road, increasing community knowledge and daily freelance staff about the importance of preservation of the road median park.
