Kajian Sifat Fisik Lahan Gambut Terhadap Tahanan Listrik Dengan Alat Geolistrik
Peatlands are soils with high organic content caused by the process of
plants decomposition. The main characteristics of peatlands are water content,
volume weight, spesific gravity, ash content, and fiber content. Peatlands have very
heterogeneous physical characteristics. Riau province has 3.867 milion hectares of
peatlands which of them are in Meranti Islands Regency and Bengkalis Regency
where the land is mostly peatlands. When testing peatlands all over the place it will
be very long and costly. The results of geoelectric testing is the value of electrical
resistivity which influenced by the physical characteristics of the peatland. This
research aims to determine the correlation between the effects of peat soil physical
characteristics towards resistivitiy values generated by geoelectric devices. This
research was conducted by drilling peatlands at intervals of 50 centimeters with a
Russian Type peat drilling tool, then the sample of peatlands was tested to
determine its resistivity value generated by the geoelectric device with the help of
soil box. The sample of peat soil is then weighed to determine its wet unit weight
and then taken for further laboratory testing. It was concluded that the dominant
type of peatland in Meranti Islands Regency is hemic peatland and for Bengkalis
Regency is sapric peatland. The results of this study indicate a relatively very low
interpretation of the correlation using one independent variable between resistivity
and physical characteristics of peatland. But the used of two independent variables
on resistivity and physical characteristics shown a better result.
