Akumulasi Logam Berat Pb, Cd, Cu, Zn Pada Daging Keong Mata Merah (Cerithidea Obtusa) Di Perairan Selat Lalang Kabupaten Siak

Heavy metal contamination in the aquatic environment may pose serious threats to
the survival of organisms as well as to the human who consumes the aquatic
Gastropoda. This study aimed to identify the level of accumulation or
bioconcentration factors (BCF) of heavy metals specifically Pb, Cd, Cu, Zn in the
total body of mata merah snail or Cerithidea obtusa also to assess the safety level of
snail’s consumption or the value of provisional tolerable weekly intake (PTWI) in the
total body of mata merah snail (C. obtusa) lived in the coastal waters of Selat Lalang.
This study had been conducted in November 2019 – March 2020. The survey method
was used in this research through the collection of primary data, samples of C.
obtusa, spread in 5 sites of Selat Lalang coastal waters. The analysis of heavy metal
concentration was conducted using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) at
the Analisis Kimia Chevron Duri Laboratory meanwhile the sample destruction
process was taken place in the laboratory of Fisheries and Marine Department,
University of Riau. Result analysis showed that the concentration of Zn was the
highest compare to Cu and Cd meanwhile the concentration of Pb was the lowest in
the total body of the snail. Based on the BCF value of heavy metals contained in the
total body of the snails, the accumulation of Zn, Cd, Pb were low meanwhile the
accumulation of Cu was moderate. Referring to the PTWI value, the amount of Cd,
Cu, and Zn in the total body of the mata merah snail (C. obtusa) had exceeded the
safety limits for human consumption meanwhile the presence of Pb was still within
the maximum permissible limit of the heavy metals contamination for consumption.
