Kontribusi Istri Nelayan Terhadap Pendapatan Rumah Tangga Nelayan Di Desa Alai Kecamatan Tebing Tinggi Barat Kabupaten Kepulauan Meranti Provinsi Riau

This research was conducted in Alai Village, Tebing Tinggi Barat
Subdistrict, Meranti Islands Regency, Riau Province. This research aims to
identify the type of fishermen's wife's work, to know the distribution of the wife's
working hours in the domestic, public, leasur domains, and to find out the income
and contribution of fishermen's wives to household income. The method used in
this research is a survey, namely observation. Observating and collecting
informations are directly in the field and the data related to this research. It uses a
questionnaire as a guide to obtain the appropriate data. Based on the results of the
research and the discussion that have been described, the types of work by
fishermen's wives to help the household needs consists of fisheries and nonfisheries,
including fishermen's wives who work as salted fish processors,
fishermen's wives who work as vegetable traders, fishermen's wives who work as
cake traders, fishermen's wives who work as lontong traders and fishermen's
wives who work as tailors. The distribution carried out by wives who work as
traders to keep household income is carried out every day, fishermen wives who
work as salted fish processors only carry out processing activities if their
husbands go to the sea, and fishermen's wives who work as tailors only carry out
the activities if they are offered sewing from the customers and if they are making
clothes that will be marketed again later. The income of fishermen's wives who
work as salted fish processors is IDR 936,810 with the contribution percentage of
59%, the income of fishermen's wives who work as traders is IDR 871,428 with
the contribution percentage of 58.7%, the income of fishermen's wives who work
as tailors is IDR 675,000 with the contribution percentage of 46.3%.
