Penyisihan Bod5, Cod Dan Tss Limbah Cair Pulp Dan Kertas Dengan Proses Koagulasi-Flokulasi Dan Membran Nanofiltrasi
ABSTRACT
The forest product processing industry, one of which is the pulp and paper
industry. The pulp and paper industry is a contributor of liquid waste which is
quite dangerous for the environment. Increased production in the industry is
followed by the presence of wastewater with high levels of pollutants. Wastewater
in the pulp and paper industry is mainly generated from the process of pulping,
bleaching and papermaking. This study aims to study the effect of variations in the
speed of stirring flocculation using aluminum sulfate coagulant (Alum) and
membrane operating pressure in the processing of pulp and paper wastewater
using nanofiltration membranes (NF) with the help of the coagulationflocculation
process as a pretreatment. In the coagulation-flocculation process
alum coagulant was used as much as 1000 mg / L with 200 rpm coagulation
stirring speed for 2 minutes and continued with floculation stirring variations 20
rpm; 40 rpm; and 60 rpm for 15 minutes then deposition time for 30 minutes. The
nanofiltration membrane process was carried out for 60 minutes with variations
in operating pressure at 3,0 bar; 6,0 bar; and 9,0 bars. In each treatment process,
the quality of wastewater is tested with the parameters of biochemical oxygen
demand (BOD5), chemical oxygen demand (COD), total suspended solid (TSS). In
addition, an analysis was carried out in the form of permeate flux and percentage
of NF membrane rejection. Based on the analysis of research results obtained the
best coagulation mixing speed at 20 rpm for 15 minutes with the reduction
percentage of BOD5, COD and TSS respectively by 75.65%; 46.91%; and 97.03%
while the highest percentage of NF membrane rejection at 9 bar pressure is
76.30%; 90.54%; and 90% for BOD5, COD and TSS with an average flux value of
19.49 L / m2.hour.
