Pengaruh Waktu Adsorpsi Ion Fe2+ Terhadap Efektivitas Adsorben Bubuk Cangkang Telur Ayam Ras
ABSTRACT
Pollution in water bodies at certain concentrations can change the function of being a
source of poison for waters life. One of the substances contained in water is Fe2+. Irons
(Fe2+) is one of the ions which causes pollution if the excess content is in water.
Adsorption is a method can used for decreas consentration of metals ion in contaminated
solution. Chicken egg shells contain 98.43% Calcium Carbonate (CaCO3) so it is possible
to be used as an adsorbent. The research objectives were to determine the effectiveness of
chicken egg shells powder in absorbing Fe ions, determine the adsorption time of chicken
egg shell powder as Fe2+ ion adsorbent and to compare the effectiveness of activated
chicken egg shell powder adsorbents with unactivated chicken egg shell powder. This
research begins with the preparation of raw 0,1 N HCl solution for 48 hours, then the
adsorption process is carried out by contacting the adsorbent Fe2+ ion based on contact
time of 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 minutes. The adsorbent weight is 1 gram with a stirring
speed of 100 rpm where the volume of concentration of Fe2+ is 10 ppm. The
concentration of the adsorption solution was then analyzed using AAS. The results of the
water content of the adsorbent activated by 0,1 N HCl were 4% and the water content of
the adsorbent without activation was 5%. The best percentage of adsorbent effectiveness
against Fe2+ ion is activated compared to without activation. The highest percentage of
adsorption effectiveness was found in the activated chicken egg shell powder adsorbent,
namely 99.13%.
