Pengaruh Perbandingan Campuran Pelarut N-Heksana Dan Etanol Terhadap Proses Ekstraksi Biji Pinang (Areca Catechu L) Melalui Proses Ekstraksi Sokletasi
ABSTRACT
Extraction is a process of separating a substance based on differences in its solubility in
two different insoluble liquids, usually water and the other as an organic solvent. In this
study, the basic ingredients used in the extraction process are areca nuts. The extraction
process used is soxhletation extraction, which is the process of separating a component
contained in a solid by repeated extraction using a certain solvent so that all the desired
components will be isolated. The solvents used in this study were N-Hexane and ethanol.
The purpose of this research is to find the optimum conditions of the n-hexane-ethanol
solvent variation. Betel nuts as much as 100 grams, using n-hexane and ethanol (nhexane:
ethanol) as a solvent as much as 250 ml with a ratio of 1: 1, 1: 4, 2: 3, 3: 2, 4: 1.
With an extraction time of 5 hours, 5 hours 30 minutes and 6 hours. Based on the results
of the study, the highest yield percentage from the extraction of betel nuts was 0.30% in
the ratio of 4: 1 solvent mixture with 6 hours of extraction time, the greatest density was
obtained in the ratio of 4: 1 solvent mixture with 6 hours extraction time of 1.320 gr /
cm3. , the greatest viscosity was obtained at the ratio of 4: 1 pealrut mixture with 6 hours
extraction time of 3.90 cSt.
