Penerapan Model Discovery Learning Untuk Meningkatkan Hasil Belajar Matematika Peserta Didik Kelas Vii5 Smpn 4 Mandau
Abstract:. This research is classroom action research which aims to
improve the learning process and the result of learning mathematics by applying
discovery learning (DL) model. The subject of this research were the first
semester students of class VII5 SMPN 4 Mandau academic year 2019/2020
consisting of 20 male and 12 female students. Instruments on this research
consisted of syllabus, lesson plans and worksheets; and instruments of data
collection which is observation sheets and the test result sheets.The function of
observation sheet is to obtain data from the learning process analyzed in a
qualitatively, while the function of results sheet of the mathematics learning tests
is to obtain the results of the study and analyzed in quantitatively. The data
analysis of students and teacher activity showed that the learning process has
improved after the discovery learning model being implemented. Most of students
were very confidence and active in learning process, the students are skilled to
build their knowledge by their own, hence the learning becomes more meaningful
and saved in student’s memory for a long time. The data of the student’s
evaluation test showed that the number of students reached the minimum mastery
criteria (MMC) increase from the basic score to first test, from first test to second
test. The results of this research showed an increasing of students achievement
where the basic score 31,25%, to the first test 46,87%, the second test 65,62%.
For the skills achievement score of the first test 40,62% the second test 59,38%.
Based on data analysis, it can be concluded that the implementation of discovery
learning model can improve learning process and increase student’s mathematics
achievement at class VII5 SMPN 4 Mandau.
