Pengaruh Penerapan Problem Based Learning (PBL) Terhadap Kemampuan Komunikasi Matematis Dan Motivasi Belajar Siswa Kelas VII SMP Se-Kabupaten Kuantan Singingi Pada Materi Aritmetika Sosial
This research is motivated by low Mathematical Communication Skills (KKM) and student learning motivation. Based on data on National Examination scores in 2017/2018, interviews, observations, which researchers have done, it is found that the mathematical communication skills and student motivation are still low. The solution to improve the low mathematical communication skills is by applying the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. The PBL model is a learning model that can make students learn through solving real-world problems.
The research objectives were: (1) To comprehensively describe the effect of the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on the mathematical communication skills of class VII SMP in Kuantan Singingi in terms of all students, (2) To comprehensively describe the effect of the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. ) on the learning motivation of class VII junior high school students in Kuantan Singingi Regency in terms of all students, (3) comprehensively describing the effect of the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on the mathematical communication skills of class VII SMP in Kuantan Singingi Regency in terms of school level ( high, medium, low), (4) To comprehensively describe the effect of the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on the learning motivation of seventh grade students of SMP throughout Kuantan Singingi Regency in terms of the school level (high, medium, low).
This research is a quasi-experimental study using pre-test post-test control group design with a population of seventh grade students of SMP Negeri in Kuantan Singingi Regency, which is divided into three school levels, namely, high, medium and low schools. The research sample was taken randomly by classifying schools according to school level and then selecting one school according to level. Of the three levels, and selected as research samples are SMPN 1 Teluk Kuantan (high level), SMPN 3 Teluk Kuantan (medium level) and SMPN 2 Benai (low level). From each school, two classes were randomly selected as the experimental class and the control class.

The research instrument was a learning tool and a mathematical communication ability test. The data collection technique was carried out by providing the KKM test and learning motivation questionnaire. Data were analyzed using t-test and one-way anova. The Mathematical Communication Ability Test (KKM) is based on indicators of the mathematical communication ability of the results. The KKM indicators in this study are written, drawing and Mathematical expressions. The learning motivation questionnaire was also prepared based on the motivation indicators. Motivational questionnaire indicators in this study are the desire and desire to succeed, drive and need in learning, hopes and aspirations for the future, rewards in learning, activities that are interesting in learning, and a conducive learning environment, allowing a student to learn well. . The validation process was carried out by three expert validators then perfected the questionnaire based on input from the validator, conducted trials and conducted analysis of the KKM test and a motivation questionnaire based on the test results. From the results of data analysis, it was obtained a significant level of 0.000 0.05 (low level).
The results showed that there was a positive effect of PBL application on mathematical communication skills and motivation in terms of overall students and high school levels, while at the medium and low school levels there was no influence of PBL on KKM and learning motivation.
