ABSTRAK
Linear alkyl benzene (C6H5CnH2n+1) is one of the organic compound used as raw material in the
detergent industry because it has a high degradation rate and it is biodegradable. The increasing
use of detergents, the linier alkyl benzene industry will also growing. This plant is designed to
produce 80,000 tons per year of linear alkyl benzen (LAB). One of the main equipment in this
plant is the alkylation reactor (R-103). This equipment is designed to react monoolefin and
benzene to produce linear alkyl benzene (LAB) and heavy alkyl benzene (HAB) as side product
with ZSM-5 catalyst. This reactor type is a fixed bed multitube reactor with a cooling water in
the shell and this reactor is operated at temperature of 200o K and pressure of 2.73 bar. The feed
flow rate is 44680,877 kg per hour consisting of benzene and a mix-monoolefin. The height of
this reactor is 8.85 m with a diameter of 3.45 m. The Total Capital Investment (TCI) is Rp.
535,043,029,256 and the Total Production Cost (TPC) is Rp. 2,022,607,229,579. From the
economic analysis, it is found that Return On Investments (ROI) is 48.66%, Payback Period
(PBP) is 20.4 months, Discounted Cash Flow (IRR) is 22.74%, and Break Even Point is 50%.
