ABSTRACT
Dumai City is an area located in the eastern part of the mainland of Sumatra
which is located close to the Malacca Strait as a world shipping lane so as to
result in the rapid development of industrial, commercial, agricultural and
shipping activities. the development of the progress of these activities directly
causes a decrease in the quality of coastal waters, due to the increasing input
of waste. There is no organization that is able to facilitate marine research
activities and play a role as an educational center for the community. In
response to this it is necessary to procure a marine research center in Dumai.
Design This marine research center uses the principle of Eco-Futuristic as a
combination of environment and design objects. In order to obtain the design
of the Marine Research Center that can facilitate research activities and as an
educational center for the community who can use the maximum potential of
the environment and have a futuristic design in terms of appearance expected
to be able to become an iconic and sustainable building.
