Pengaruh Integrasi Mind Map Dalam Model Problem Based Learning (PBL) Terhadap Peningkatan Penguasaan Konsep IPA Dan Berpikir Kreatif Siswa Kelas VIII SMPN 25 Pekanbaru
Education is one of the most important things in determining the quality of life of a nation. Through education, it is expected that students could prepare themselves to face the 21st-century life that demands productive, creative, innovative, and independent students through the learning process at school. As demanded by the 2013 curriculum, Biology learning should be student-centered, it focuses on stimulating students’ activeness in learning, compiling concepts, and interpreting the learning outcomes they receive. Student autonomy trained the students to independently learn and understand the learning materials to stimulate and activate the students’ autonomous learning.
The students’ ability to master concepts and creative thinking is not identified by the teacher, since the students were not maximized the participation in the learning process, unstructured learning design, as well as the students, were not evaluated independently on their weaknesses in learning. Most of the students have difficulty in accomplishing the assignments and the learning process is teacher-centered, it is not students’ autonomy. The students have not been facilitated to monitor their learning progress and have not been facilitated to evaluate the learning outcomes. Therefore, research on the effect of Mind Map Integration in Problem Based Learning (PBL) on Students’ Understanding Improvement on Biological concepts and creative thinking of class VIII students of SMPN 25 Pekanbaru was conducted.
This study aims to analyze the improvement of students' mastery of concepts and creative thinking and to find out the effect of concept mastery and creative thinking of students by using a Mind Mapping in Problem Based Learning at SMPN 25 Pekanbaru. This is quasi-experimental research. Grade VIII students of SMPN 25 Pekanbaru was the population of the research. The research sample consisted of 2 classes consisting of class VIII.1 totaling 39 students as the experimental class and class VIII.2 totaling 42 students as the control class. The data were collected using a concept mastery test and creative thinking in the form of a pretest, posttest, and making a summary Mind map.
