Studi Anatomi Dan Histokimia Organ Vegetatif Tanaman Kelembak (Rheum Officinale Baill.)
Kelembak (Rheum officinale Baill.) is species which belong to the Polygonaceae family. Vegetative organs are used by the local people as herbal medicines and foodstuffs based on existing local knowledge so that the quality value of these medicinal plants is not yet known. On the other, it will be the basis for the development of phytopharmaca drugs by observing anatomical characters. This study aims to analyze the anatomical structures and histochemical of the vegatative organs and the location of the metabolites of each organ. The research method used paraffin, paradermal and histochemical methods. The study was conducted from January 2020-November 2020. The research site was carried out in the Microtechnical and Botanical Laboratory, FMIPA, Riau University. The results showed that the anatomy structure of the root are composed of feloderm, the cortex contains starch grains and calcium oxalate crystals druse. Pith dominate the whole of stem diameter. Petioles with unicellular non glandular trichomes. The leaves are composed of a square shaped epidermis, lamina with thick cuticles and collateral type vascular bundles. Dorsiventral and amphistomatic leaves are diacytic, anisocytic, tetracytic and parasitic types. Trichoma is of the unicellular type. The adaxial contains non-glandular trichomes while the abaxial is glandular trichomes. Calcium oxalate crystals of druse form are found in all vegetative organs. The histochemical test consisted positive for alkaloids, tannins, lipids and flavonoids.
Key words: anatomy, histochemistry, kelembak, vegatative organs.
