Isolasi Dan Uji Antimalaria Senyawa Metabolit Sekunder Dari Ekstrak N-Heksana Tumbuhan Paku Ahaka (Vittaria Elongata Sw)
Vittaria elongata is one of fern that comes from the Pteridaceae family. It is commonly found on palm tree trunks, but not extensively studied. This investigation was intended to isolate V. elongata secondary metabolitefrom hexane extract. The plant was extracted by using macereation in methanol. The extract was then partinioned with n-hexane, dicloromethana, ethyl acetate and water. Furthermore, the n-hexane extract was purified by using vacuum liquid chromatography produced 19 fractions. Fraction 7 was purified with flash chromatography and a crystalline was shown in subfraction 23-27. The subfraction was recrystallized to obtain white needle crystal with a melting point of 118-120oC. The chemical structure was characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy and the results obtained are considered as β-sitosterol after spectroscopic data compared to data in the scientific literature. In addition, the extracts were tested for antimalarial activity. The results showing weak antimalarial activity with IC50 values> 100 µg/ml in n-hexane, ethyl acetate and water extracts, while dicloromethana extracts showed promising activity with IC50 values of 13.65 µg / ml.
