Uji Variasi Pengeringan Batang Kelapa Sawit (Elaeis Ginensis) Bagian Pangkal Terhadap Kadar Air Dan Kuat Tekan
ABSTRACT
Wood is a natural construction material that is very commonly used in the world.
Wood is still needed as a building material because of the advantages possessed
by wood. However, the availability of wood today is increasingly limited and the
price is increasingly expensive. To overcome this, palm oil trunks can be used as
an alternative construction material that can be used as a substitute for wood or
minimize the use of wood commonly used in construction. The purpose of this
study was to find out the speed of decrease in moisture content contained in the
trunk of oil palm and know the strength of perpendicular press fiber and strong
press parallel fiber palm stem after the conduct of drying testing using the oven
with temperature variations of 100Cº, 120Cº, 140Cº, and 160Cº. Based on the
research that has been done obtained conclusions: 1) Based on the results of the
research testing drying palm stem outer base and inner base shows that in the
sample Pangkal Luar (PL) and Pangkal Dalam (PD) temperature 100 Cº takes as
long as 36 hours, samples with temperatures of 120Cº take 32 hours, samples at
140Cº take 24 hours, temperature tests take 140Cº, and 160Cº takes 20 hours. ; 2)
Based on PKKI-1961 test results of strong press parallel fiber palm stem outer
base obtained with a value at a temperature of 100Cº is 222.89 kg / cm², this
value belongs to the strong class of wood to IV (Four) and for temperatures above
100Cº included in the class of wood V (five). ; 3) The result of a strong test press
perpendicular fiber palm trunk on the sample of the outer base obtained an
average value of 84.49 kg / cm2. As for the base of the inside obtained an average
value of 42.24 kg / cm2.
