Sintesis Dan Karakterisasi Kombinasi Tio2 Dengan Arang Aktif Dari Kulit Buah Pisang Kepok (Musa Paradisiaca) Yang Teraktivasi Hcl
TiO2 (Titanium Dioxide) is one of the semiconductor compounds which has high stability, perfect photocatalyst ability and no poisoning potential as degradation of Methylene Blue. TiO2 will only be active with the help of UV rays, to overcome this weakness many ways can be done, one of them by adding material or precursors such as activated charcoal, zeolites, silica and so forth. Banana Kepok skin active charcoal (Musa paradisiaca) has potential as an adsorbent that can help the performance of TiO2 because it contains a large amount of cellulose and lignin. The purpose of this study is to synthesize and characterize the combination of TiO2 / activated charcoal from Kepok Banana skin waste by determining the quality of adsorbent by referring to SNI 06-3730-1995 National Standards. Active skin of Kepok Banana skin is carbonized at 300oC for 1 hour and activated through the process of adding hydrochloric acid (HCl) activator with a variation of the concentration of 0%; 2.5%; 5% and 7.5%. Optimum activated charcoal is determined through characterization of water content, ash content, adsorption power of iodine and adsorption capacity against Methylene Blue. From the research results, obtained the optimum Kepok Banana skin charcoal on concentration 0% with a water content of 3.12%; ash content of 5.18%, absorption of iodine of 827.44 mg / g; and absorption of Methylene Blue by 23.098 mg / g; with a surface area of 85.383 m2 / g; . The optimum activated charcoal is then combined with TiO2 and the adsorption test is carried out on Methylene Blue. The research results obtained an absorbency of 19.612 mg / g with a surface area of 72.642 m2 / g. From this study it can be concluded that the addition of HCl activator can reduce the absorption of SNI 06-3730-1995.
