Sintesis Biodiesel Dari Cpo Menggunakan Katalis Heterogen H2so4/ Cao, Variasi : Kecepatan Pengadukan Dan Regenerasi Katalis
The world energy crisis and global warming were big problems nowadays. Biodiesel is a diesel engine fuel produced from renewable materials and consists of alkyl esters of fatty acids. Conventional biodiesel produced in two step of reaction, transesterification of triglycerides and esterification of free fatty acids (FFA) contained in oil with alcohol. In this study, biodiesel was synthesized through a 1 step transesterification reaction of CPO (Crude Palm Oil) using a CaO catalyst from the shells of blood clams (Anadara granosa) which was driven by H2SO4 impregnation. The catalyst was made by calcining the shells of blood clams at a temperature of 900 °C for 5 hours, it impregnated using H2SO4 (1, 2, and 3M) and calcined again at 300 °C for 3 hours to produce a catalyst H2SO4 (1, 2, and 3 M)/CaO. The impregnated catalysts was characterized using XRF to determine the chemical composition and surface area using the BET method. The highest chemical composition was shown by the catalyst without impregnation is CaO 97.834 %. Impregnation of H2SO4 (1, 2, and 3 M) on CaO decreased the concentration of CaO and increased the concentration of SO3. The presence of sulfonic acid (SO3H) was giving active acid site on the catalyst. The effect of H2SO4 concentration on CaO was analyzed on biodiesel synthesis using two variations, stirring speed (300, 400, 500 and 600 rpm) and 3 steps reaction (R1, R2 and R3) at 60 °C for 3 hours with mole ratio of oil: methanol 1:12 and 3
% by weight of catalyst. The most effective catalyst for produced biodiesel was H2SO4/ CaO 3 M with biodiesel yield 91.16%. The characteristics of the biodiesel produced in this study with catalyst H2SO4 (1, 2, dan 3 M)/ CaO R1, R2 dan R3 were water content 0,02; 0,02 and 0,03 %, density 880; 880 and
890 kg/ m3, viscosity 5,45; 5,69 and 5,84 mm2/s, carbon residue 0,05; 2,8 and
3.38 %, the acid number 0,43; 0,44 and 0,44 mg KOH/g, saponification number
400; 403 and 401 mg KOH/g, the iodine number 53,26; 54,09 and 56,16 g-I2/100g and cetane number 76,85; 63,43 and 45,37. In general, the characteristics of biodiesel according to SNI 7182-2015 except cetane numbers and carbon residue.
