Analisis Pengaruh Variasi Ph Pasca Leaching Dan Waktu Aging Terhadap Karakter Zeolit Yang Disintesis Dari Bahan Dasar Lempung Alam
Synthetic zeolite is an porous material that has physical and chemical properties similar to natural zeolite and more widely used on an industrial scale because it has a high level of crystal purity and uniform particle size. However, the use of zeolite has resulted in the increasing price of synthetic raw materials so that natural raw materials are used as an alternative in the manufacture of zeolites. This study aims to synthesize zeolite sodalite by using natural Maredan clay as the main source of Si and Al, which are abundant and not widely used. The method used in this research is the reflux method. The clays were leached using sulfuric acid 3 M with pH post-leaching adjusment into 2 and 4, then calcined at 750ºC for 3 hours. Post-calcined clays were aging at 80ºC using 5 M NaOH with a stirring speed of 300 rpm and a variation of the aging time of 3, 5 and 7 hours. Zeolite sodalite was synthesized by reflux method at 100° C for 8 hours. The synthesized zeolite was characterized using XRD, XRF, FTIR and SEM. The results of the analysis will be compared with the comparison of standard zeolite sodalite. XRF analysis showed that the Si/Al ratio of the leached clay then adjusted to pH 2 and 4 increased from 1.8 to 2.56 and 2.2. Based on the resulting diffractogram sodalite has a purity of 56.59% with a crystal size of 45,613 nm. The results of the micrograph showed that the zeolite morphology was spherical homogeneous with D4R and D6R vibrations in the 558.42 cm-1 absorption band in FTIR analysis and the amount of acid was 0.7 mmol/g. This study shows that increasing post-leaching pH and aging time will increase the purity and crystallinity of the sodalite produced.
