Penjerapan Fe (Iii) Dari Air Gambut Menggunakan Adsorben Karbon Aktif Berbasis Cangkang Biji Ketapang
Riau Province with a very large area of peatland and produces peat water as potential raw water. However, peat water contains iron (Fe) which causes reddish brown color of peat water. In this research, Fe (III) cation uptake was carried out using activated carbon adsorbent based on ketapang seed shells. Activated carbon is made through carbonization and activation stages. The carbonization process was carried out at a temperature of 400oC, 500oC and 600oC for 30 minutes, so that charcoal was obtained and the chemical activation stage was carried out by adding a KOH activator with a weight ratio of charcoal and KOH 1: 3 (w / w). Characterization of activated carbon was carried out to determine functional groups using FTIR and to analyze surface morphology using SEM. Activated carbon adsorbent was applied to absorb Fe (III) cations in peat water with various parameters including variations in contact time (15, 30, 45 and 60 minutes), variations in adsorbent weight (0.5, 1 and 2 g) and the ratio of adsorbent weight. and peat water volume (1: 100, 1: 200 and 1: 300) w / v. The optimum conditions for the uptake of Fe (III) in peat water are 30 minutes of contact time, 1 gram of adsorbent weight and 1: 100 (w / v) ratio of adsorbent weight and peat water volume with an absorption efficiency of 53.74% on KACBK 600 adsorbent The results of the FTIR ACBK and KACBK spectra did not change the functional group, only experienced a shift in wave number and intensity. Based on SEM analysis that the ketapang seed shell charcoal, both after and before activation, had pores formed. SEM test results show that the structure of the ketapang seed shell charcoal has pores that still have impurities compared to after activation which indicates that the surface of the sample is hollow with various sizes.
