ABSTRACT
Palm kernel meal (BIS) is a side product of the processing of palm kernel into palm
kernel oil. Palm kernel meal contains cellulose, hemisellulose and lignin. Palm
kernel cake contains cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin which can be used as
animal feed by fermentation. The objectives to be achieved in this research are the
manufacture of animal feed from palm kernel meal and analyzed the animal feed
produced and compare the analysis with SNI. There are two stages in this research,
namely, palm kernel cake to be fermented mixed with plain water and with boiling
water wich is the ratio between palm kernel meal with water is 1:1. In this
fermentation process, EM-4 and molasses are added and the fermentation time is
5; 10; 15; and 20 days. The results showed that 20 days of fermentation was mix
with boiling water is appropriate with SNI wich is, water content 10,81% and ash
content 3,1% were the lowest in boiling water treatment. Analysis of protein content
in the animal feed produced was 17,9% on 20 days fermentation with plain
waterand with boiling water and fat content was 8,5% on 20 days fermentation with
plain waterand with boiling water. The overall results obtained are in accordance
with SNI 7856:2017.
