Penyisihan Logam Cu2+ Secara Adsorpsi Menggunakan Spent Bleaching Earth (Sbe) Sebagai Adsorben
ABSTRACT
Spent Bleaching Earth (SBE) is a solid waste produced from the bleaching
industry of palm oil (CPO). In principle, SBE can be regenerated and reused as
an adsorbent. This study aims to determine the efficiency and absorption capacity
of SBE as an adsorbent in metal Cu2+ adsorption. The adsorption process was
carried out by determining the optimum pH from variations 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and the
optimum concentration of variations in the concentration of Cu2+ 10, 20, 30, 40,
50, 60 mg/L. This study characterizes the SBE before and after adsorption using
SEM (Scanning Electron Microscop ) and EDX (Energy Dispersive X-ray). This
test can determine the shape of the surface structure and constituent elements
contained in SBE. It can be seen from the SEM test after adsorption that the pores
are relatively open on the SBE and from the EDX test that the metal content Cu2+
can be absorbed and stick to the adsorbent surface by 1.12%. The results showed
that the highest concentration removal Cu2+occurred at pH 7 and a concentration
of 30 mg / L with a metal removal efficiency Cu2+of 96.31 mg / L. Adsorption
process metals Cu2+ with an adsorbent SBE followed Langmuir isotherm pattern
with coefficient value of R2 = 0.8729 and the maximum adsorption capacity of
1.239 mg / g.
