Biosorpsi Ion Logam Cu2+ Menggunakan Limbah Spent Mushroom Substrate (Sms) Sebagai Biosorben Dengan Variasi Ph Dan Konsentrasi
ABSTRACT
Spent Mushroom Substrate (SMS) or remaining mushroom media is agro-residue
and the remaining mesillium fungus after harvesting mushroom. SMS has several
types of polymers such as lignin, cellulose and hemiselulose degraded by
mycelium due to the fungal growth process which is then converted into simpler
molecules to use as biosorbent that can be used to set aside Cu metals. The
purpose of this study is to determine the efficiency of the allowance and the
capacity of Cu2+ metal absorption adsorption against pH variations and solution
concentrations and determine the Cu2+ metal adsorption isoterm pattern model. In
this study the pH used was 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 with Cu2+ metal solution
concentration of 10 mg/L, 20 mg/L, 30 mg/L, 40 mg/L, 50 mg/L, and 60 mg/L.
Characterization is performed against SMS before and after adsorption to
determine the physical and chemical propertise of materials using SEM (Scanning
Electron Microscopy) and EDX (Energy Dispersive X-Ray). SEM and EDX that
SMS is able to absorb elements of Cu2+ metal content, as well as the presence of
new materials attached to the SMS surface after the Cu2+ metal adsorption
process. The results showed the highest allowance efficiency occurred at pH 7
with a concentration of 50 mg/L, with the Cu2+ metal absorbed by 94,02%. While
the adsorption isoterm model follows the pattern of isoterm Freundlich and
isoterm Langmuir.
