Pengaruh Ph Dan Waktu Kontak Pada Pretreatment Palm Oil Mill Effluent Menggunakan Proses Ozonasi
ABSTRACT
POME has a high COD, BOD, and TSS of 28.363 mg/L; 6.089 mg/L; and
6.337 mg/L. Untreated POME can damage aquatic ecosystems. The content of
lignin and organic compounds in POME makes it difficult to biodegrade. To
increase biodegradability, pretreatment with the ozonation process can be used.
Ozonation uses ozone gas (O3) in the decomposition of lignin and organic
compounds. Ozonation will decompose complex organic compounds into simpler
organic compounds. The results showed an increase in the BOD5/COD ratio. The
optimum condition was shown at pH 6, contact time of 25 minutes where the
BOD5/COD ratio increased from 0,21 to 0,7. The decrease in COD content
occurred at pH 6 and 7 at 25 minutes contact time of 74,35%, while the highest
decrease in BOD and TSS content was at pH 7 at 25 minutes contact time of 27%
and 68%.
