Proses Ozonasi Untuk Pemanfaatan Kembali Buangan Akhir Pengolahan Pome Sebagai Air Baku Di Industri Minyak Sawit
ABSTRACT
POME final discharge is currently a problem for the palm oil industry because it
does not reach the established quality standards and can damage the life of
aquatic biota. This research aims to treat POME final discharge using ozonation
method to remove chemical oxygen demand (COD) and total solid suspension
(TSS) parameters so that it can meets the established quality standards and the
processed products can be used as raw water in the palm oil industry. This
research was preceded by determining the concentration of ozone formed from
the ozone generator. The next stage is POME final discharge treatment by using
ozonation method with variations in ambient air flow rates of 2; 3; 4 and 5
L/minute and contact time with variations of 0; 5; 10 and 15 minutes. The results
showed that the decrease in COD and TSS concentrations. The best COD
concentration removal efficiency occurred at a contact time of 15 minutes for an
ambient air flow rate of 2 L/minute for with a removal efficiency of 20%. The best
TSS concentration removal efficiency was 85,7% occurred at 5 minutes contact
time for ambient air flow rate of 4 L/minute, at a contact time of 10 minutes for
ambient air flow rate of 5 L/minute, and at a contact time of 15 minutes for
ambient air flow rate of 4 and 5 L/minutes.
