Strategi Pengembangan Ekowisata Bahari Selat Baru Kabupaten Bengkalis
Management of marine ecotourism in its development requires a specific strategy. Selat Baru Beach, Bengkalis Regency, is an area with excellent regional potential that has not been managed and developed properly, so it cannot be assumed as a productive tourism area for community income and potential cash contributor to the region. Local governments have not maximized the potential of natural resources capable of forming strategies in the development of tourist objects. So that the author was interested in researching the " Marine Ecotourism Development Strategy in Selat Baru Bengkalis Regency". This study aims to identify the natural, socio-economic and cultural potential of Selat Baru marine ecotourism and the strategy to develop the Selat Baru area as a marine ecotourism area. This research has been conducted using the method of observation with field observation techniques, and interviews using a questionnaire that has been tested for validity and reliability before being distributed to respondents. The results showed that Selat Baru Beach could be developed through the concept of ecotourism. Visitors can see marine biota and types of animals and mangrove plants around the tourist attraction. There were 5 types of mangrove plants: Avicennia sp, Rhizophora apiculata, Xylocarpus granatum, Lumnitzera racemosa, and Acrostichum speciosum. While the types of fauna that are still found in the Selat Baru Beach District Bengkalis namely Stork, Otter, Gull, White Eye Bird, Black Crow, Black Kowak, Eagle, Lutung, Weasel, Punai, Mangrove Squirrel. The tourism potential from socio-economic perspective is varied. The number of marine ecotourism tourists reaches 4,000-5,000 visitors per month. Every year a cultural festival is also held as an effort to maintain local arts. The strategy for developing Marine Ecotourism Area in Selat Baru Bengkalis Regency is based on the results of SWOT analysis: Providing supporting facilities for marine ecotourism and maintaining supporting facilities; Increasing supervision of environmental sustainability and the condition of marine ecotourism Selat Baru beach; Increasing local community participation through socialization and training activities to support the development of Selat Baru marine ecotourism.
