Gambaran Kesiapan Toilet Training Pada Anak Usia Toddler
Toilet training is one of the development task of toddler. The
purpose of this study was to determine the toilet training readiness in toddler (18-
36 months) in Pekan Arba District, Indragiri Hilir Regency. Method: The design
of this study was descriptive. The respondents of this study were 96 mothers used
accidental sampling technique. The measuring instrument used was a
questionnaire. The analysis used was univariate analysis. Result: The results
showed that majority of respondents were 26-35 years (58,3%), more than half of
mother’s education were S-1 (51,0%) and worked as housewife (63,5%). Most
age of toddlers were 25-36 months (58,3%) and more than half of toddler’s gender
were male (53,1%). This research showed that most of toddlers aged 18-24
months had not physical and mental signs of toilet training readiness. The
physical readiness that parent of toddler (18-24 months) should be focus to train
were abilities to sit stable and to put clothes up and down and in mental
readiness, parent should be focus to train the language skill. Most of toddlers aged
25-36 months had showed mental and psychological readiness. In physical
readiness, parent of toddler (25-36 months) should be focus to train the nighttime
bladder control. Most of parents had willingness to invest the time required for
toilet training to their children at 18 months and started them to use toilet
regularly at 25-36 months. Conclusion: The higher the age of child, the more of
toilet training readiness signs that mastered by the child will be seen.
