Perbedaan Konsep Diri Remaja Pertengahan Yang Tinggal Bersama Orang Tua Dengan Remaja Pertengahan Yang Tinggal Di Asrama Sekolah
The enviroment, parents and peers are factors that can influence
self-concepts especially in the middle adolescent. The study aims to find out the
difference between the self-concept of a middle adolescent living with parents and
a middle adolescents living in a boarding school. Method: The research design
used was comparison study with a sectional cross, the research sample consisted
of 138 respondents made up 69 who lived with parents and 69 the respondents
living in boarding school using the propotion stratified random sampling
technique. The measuring instrument used is Tennessee Self Concept Scale
(TSCS) has been tested for validity and reability. The analysis used was a
bivariate analysis using chi square test. Result: The majority of respondents who
live with their parents have a negative self-concept, namely 38 people (55,1%)
compared to respondents who live in school dormitories, namely 25 people
(36,2%). Meanwhile, respondents who live in dormitories are found to have a
positive self-concept, amely 44 people (63,8%) compared to respondents who live
with parents, namely 31 people (44,9%). Statistical test results suggest that there
is a difference between the self-concept of the middle adolescent living with
parents and the middle adolescent who living in boarding school (p value 0,04 <
0,05). Conclusion: There are differences between self-concept of adolescent
based on where they live. This difference can alse be caused by several factors
such as age, sex, place of residence and parents. Researcher suggest for futher
research using qualitative methods to find out the self-concept of respondent.
