Faktor-Faktor Yang Mempengaruhi Derajat Keparahan Neuropati Perifer Pada Pasien Diabetes Melitus: Literature Review
Diabetes mellitus is chronic disease that caused by various
macrovaskular and microvascular complication such as peripheral neuropathy.
Management and control of factors associated with severity of peripheral
neuropathy can prevent further complication such us foot ulcer and gangrene. This
study aimed to identify factors associated with severity of peripheral neuropathy
among diabetes mellitus patients. Methods: The design of this research is
literature review. Research article search was conducted through the electronic
database PubMed and google scholar with keyword severity of peripheral
neuropathy and diabetes melitus by period of 2016-2020. Result: Searching result
found 10 articles matched to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Matrix analysis
toward 10 article was done based on research purpose, method, sample, result,
semblance and difference. Literature review showed that factors associated with
severity of peripheral neuropathy among diabetes mellitus patients are age,
duration of diabetes mellitus, HbA1c, vitamin D deficiency, body mass index,
blood lipid level, and present of plaque in carotid artery. Conclusion: Age is the
most noticed factor in research articles. Modified factors of development of
peripheral neuropathy are glycemic control, replenishing vitamin D deficiency,
lowering body mass index, dyslipidemia and atherosclerosis treatment
