Pengalaman Ibu Hamil Yang Terpapar Asap Kebakaran Hutan Dalam Perawatan Kehamilan Di Kota Pekanbaru: Studi Fenomenologi
Haze resulted from forest fires contains particles perilous for health.
Those particles, when inhaled by pregnant mothers, will affect their physical,
psychology, social, and the unborn infants’ well-being. The study was aimed at to
describe the prenatal care as well as the experience of pregnant mothers who were
exposed to forest fire haze. Methodology: The study applied qualitative method
using phenomenology approach. 4 participants took part in this study as
respondents, who were chosen using inclusion criteria with purposive sampling
technique. The study took place in the service area of Inpatient Community Health
Service (Puskemas) Sidomulyo. The data were analyzed using Colaizi method.
Result: The results of the study revealed 5 (five) main topics, comprising: (1) the
effects of forest fire haze on pregnant women and their unborn infants, (2)
prenatal care done by pregnant mothers, (3) preventive measure from the impacts
of forest fire haze, (4) supports from family members to pregnant women exposed
to forest fire haze, (5) pregnant mothers’ expectation toward forest fire haze
events. Conclusion: Forest fire haze exposing pregnant women brought
consequences not only for the mothers but also their unborn infants. This
phenomenon should bring experience to pregnant women in taking care of their
pregnancy during exposure to forest fire haze. The results of this study suggested
that pregnant women exposed to the forest fire haze should be more cautious
during their pregnancy by following government’s health protocol for both inside
and outside the house.
