Hubungan Kepuasan Citra Tubuh Dengan Harga Diri Pada Remaja Putri Yang Mengalami Overweight
Uncontrolled body image satisfaction and self-esteem on overweight adolescent girls will
cause negative impacts on which thet tend to draw some border in their social interactions
since their concern is their fat body. The purpose of this study is to determine the
correlation between body image satisfaction and self-esteem of overweight girls. This
study used a descriptive correlation research design through a cross-sectional approach.
The numbers of samples of this study were 51 adolescent girls who were taken using a
purposive sampling technique. The measuring instruments used were questionnaires. The
analyses used were univariate analysis with frequency distribution and bivariate analysis
using the chi-square statistical test. The result showed that 27 teenagers have positive
body image satisfaction (52,9%), 24 teenagers have negative body image satisfaction
(47,1%), 27 teenagers have high self-esteem (52,9%), and 24 teenagers have low selfesteem
(47,1%). The result of the statistical test showed that there is no correlation
between body image satisfaction and self-esteem of overweight girls (p-value 0,665 ˃
0,05). The result of this study is expected to be a source of information in the
development of knowledge about the relationship between body image satisfaction and
self-esteem of overweight girls.
