Gambaran Lingkungan Keluarga Pasien Skizofrenia: Literature Review

Schizophrenia is a mental illness that affects the lives of sufferers. The effect of
this illness can narrow the sufferer's social environment. Family is one of the
closest social environments belongs to schizophrenics. Family environment can
give a role in support the treatment and escalate the confidence of the sufferers
about their recoveries. The purpose of the literature review for find out about the
environmental description of the shcizophrenics’ family. The method used is
Literature Review. The way is by searching related articles in the period of 2010-
2020 with keywords family environment and schizophrenia through Google
Scholar, Semantic Scholar, PubMed, Science Direct and Taylor & Francis Group.
Inclusion criteria comprise of a picture of the sufferers’ family environment. The
results of the study showed that from 6 research articles, 5 of them showed that
low cohesion, conflict, and warmth within the family environment are associated
with more severe risk and symtoms of schizophrenia. Whereas 1 other research
article showed no significant relationship between healing by perceptions and
interpersonal relationship of schizophrenia patients with relatives in the family
environment. The family environment plays an important role for schizophrenics.
Patient’s relatives with low cohesion and conflict in the family environment can
cause more risks and severe schizophrenia problems. Families are expected to be
able to create a good and conducive environment for family members suffering
from schizophrenia.
