Hambatan Dalam Memberikan Asi Pada Ibu Primipara
Many mothers who experienced problems during breastfeeding,
even stopping breastfeeding. Some of the problems often reported by
breastfeeding mothers include: sore nipples, little or no milk, and fussy babies
even though they are breastfed. Primiparous mothers are no exception, who are
having babies for the first time. Aim of the study was to determine the barriers to
breastfeeding primiparous mothers. Methods This research is a simple
descriptive study with cross sectional approach. The sample of the study was a
breastfeeding primiparous mother who had children 6-12 months with a total of
154 respondents who were taken using purposive sampling technique. The
measuring instrument used is an online questionnaire. Most of the respondents
aged 19-25 years (57.8%), the type of normal delivery was (83.8%), the majority
of respondents were exclusively breastfed (56.5%). The last education was high
school education (68.2%) and the status of unemployment was not working
(68.2%). Then the respondents were Malay (36.4%). Respondents experienced
obstacles during breastfeeding, namely flat nipples (70.8%), blisters (50.6%),
breast milk did not come out (60.4%), red breasts (64.9%), good knowledge of
breastfeeding techniques, namely ( 97.4%), then the respondents have the same
husband's support between low and high (50%), high friend support (94.2%) and
most of the respondents have high level health service support (78.4 %).
Conculation the biggest internal factor barriers to breastfeeding are flat nipples
and external factors of husband support. The results of this study suggest that
health workers educate pregnant women about breast care properly and involve
breastfeeding education for husbands.
