Strategi Adaptasi Masyarakat Nelayan Dalam Menghadapi Kemiskinan Di Desa Kuala Lama Kecamatan Pantai Cermin Kabupaten Serdang Bedagai
Abstract
This research was conducted in July 2020 in Kuala Lama Village, Pantai
Cermin District, Serdang Bedagai Regency. The purpose of this research is to find
out what factors cause poverty in Kuala Lama Village and to find out the
strategies used by fishermen households in dealing with poverty. The method used
in this research is a survey method by conducting direct observations into the
field, collecting data through interviews with a questionnaire. Respondents in this
study are poor fishing communities using simple random sampling technique. The
analysis used is descriptive analysis.
The results showed that the factors causing the poverty of fishermen in
Kuala Lama Village were caused by the quality of human resources, which was
marked by the low level of education which was one of the indicators of the low
quality of human resources. Apart from that, other factors that cause poverty are
fluctuations in the fishing season, simple fishing gear, and fishermen household
income and expenditure. Strategies for dealing with poverty by fishermen
households in Kuala Lama Village include active strategies and Network
strategies. Active strategies, namely job diversification, optimizing the workforce
of household members, and Networking strategies, namely making loans.
