ABSTRACT
This study aims to determine the effect of the interaction of the duration of
immersion in auxin growth regulators and the origin of the cutting material and to
obtain the best soaking time and origin of the cutting material for the growth of
pepper cutting. The research was conducted at the Experimental Garden at the
Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University from June to August 2019. This research is
a factorial experiment arranged according to a completely randomized design
consisting of two treatment factors. The first factor was the immersion time in
auxin, which consisted of 1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours, 4 hours. The second factor is the
origin of the cutting material which consists of a base and a middle part. The data
obtained from the research results were analyzed statistically using analysis of
variance then followed by the BNJ test at the 5% level. The results showed that the
interaction of the duration of immersion in the auxin growth regulator for 3 hours
and the origin of the middle cuttings resulted in the highest vegetative growth in
pepper cuttings. The length of soaking the cuttings in auxin growth regulating agent
for 3 hours significantly increased the highest vegetative growth in pepper cuttings.
The origin of the middle cuttings produced the highest vegetative growth compared
to the origin of the base cuttings in pepper cuttings.
