“Pengaruh Hauling Aging Kayu Terhadap Wood To Chip Ratio (Studi Kasus Di Wood Yard Department)”
ABSTRACT
Chips are the main raw material for pulp making, while logs are the raw material for
making chips. To support increased chip production and good quality, it is very
important to pay attention to the factors that influence it. Hauling is one of the
processes that affects chip production. Hauling is the process of taking wood from the
block to the chipping line, this process is closely related to aging. Aging is the age of
the wood which starts from the first day of lay down in the block area until it is
shunted to the feeding area. Hauling aging has a big influence on the wood to chip
ratio and the quality of the chips that will be produced. Wood to chip ratio is the ratio
between the amount of feeding and the chips produced. This study aims to determine
the effect of hauling aging on wood 60 days,> 90 days, and> 120 days on
the wood to chip ratio, and the effect of hauling aging on moisture content. The
results obtained are that the greater the percentage of hauling, the value of the wood
to chip ratio will increase. Hauling aging 60 days,> 90 days, and> 120 days
showed a positive correlation to the wood to chip ratio with consecutive values of
5.6%, 30.34%, and 52.35%. Storage of wood in the lay down area causes a decrease
in moisture content in wood. The effect of aging wood debark on moisture content is
greater than wood bark on.
