“Pengaruh Rasio Precipitated Calcium Carbonate & Ground Calcium Carbonate Terhadap Karakteristik Offset Paper”
ABSTRACT
Fillers are natural minerals that are added to cellulose fibers to enhance the
properties of paper. Fillers will fill the empty cavities between the fibers so that
fillers can have a positive or negative impact on the sheet. In this final project, an
analysis conducted on the effect of Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC) &
Ground Calcium Carbonate (GCC) ratio on offset paper characteristics.
Observations were made by taking secondary data from the ratio of PCC:GCC at
production 60 gsm and 80 gsm of offset paper in 2020. The ratio of PCC:GCC used
are 10:90; 20:80; 30:70; 40:60; and 50:50 each of the 20 data and then retrieved
on average. Based on the data, it was obtained that the optical properties of paper
such as brightness and opacity can increase if the use of PCC is more than GCC.
However, changes in thickness and roughness values do not always follow the ratio
of PCC and GCC.
