In improving and developing education, teachers are the dominant element in the teaching and learning process. Thus teachers are expected to improve their performance. Therefore, efforts to improve teacher performance become a topic that needs to be studied. The task of teachers is not only to teach in the sense of transforming knowledge to students, but also to continuously strive to improve their performance. Teacher performance can be defined the extent to which a teacher works to the maximum in accordance with his or her ability in an effort to achieve institutional goals. A teacher's ability will be seen from his competence. The performance of primary school teachers is a fundamental force in running education services in the field, teachers need to improve their competence to achieve better performance, as mandated by the constitution, this is a very urgent issue to be reviewed in order to improve the quality of education.

Teachers are professional personnel in charge of planning and carrying out the learning process, assessing learning outcomes, conducting guidance. Good teacher performance is one of the answers to improve the quality of education services that will be provided to the community. The main key in improving the quality of education services is teachers who have good competence that will affect their performance.
Based on the background, several problems can be formulated in this study as follows: 1) Is there a significant influence between work stress on the performance of public elementary school teachers in Dumai Kota Subdistrict, Dumai City? 2) Is there a significant influence between the workload and the performance of public elementary school teachers in Dumai Kota Subdistrict, Dumai City? 3) Is there a significant influence between work stress and workload on the performance of public elementary school teachers in Dumai Kota Subdistrict, Dumai City?
The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of free variables on bound variables, namely the Effect of Work Stress and Workload on the Performance of Public Elementary School Teachers in Dumai Kota Subdistrict, Dumai City. This study uses Ex post facto method by using questionnaire as data collection tool. Type of quantitative research with a population of 95 people. Sampling is conducted by proportional random sampling, so that a sample of 77 people is obtained. Data analysis techniques performed in two stages, namely descriptively and inferentially. Then the data obtained is analyzed with regression analysis, regression coefficient and determination coefficient. The results showed there was a positive influence between work stress and teacher performance by 41.9%. There is a positive influence between workload on teacher performance of
43.0%, and there is a mutual influence between the variables of work stress and workload on teacher performance of 49.8%. Thus, the influence of variable work stress and workload on the teacher's performance is at medium interpretation.
