Model Literasi Kesehatan Lingkungan Padamasyarakat Di Lahan Gambut

Currently, an important environmental issue in Indonesia is the destruction of
peatland which reduces the level of environmental health of communities on
peatland, especially the Kepenghuluan Bagan Sinembah Timur. This reduction in
environmental health requires serious efforts through increasing environmental
health literacy. Environmental health literacy is a combination of the concepts of
environmental literacy and health literacy to develop the skills and competencies
needed to understand, evaluate, seek and use environmental health information,
reduce health risks, improve quality of life and protect the environment. This
study aims to (1) analyze the environmental and health conditions, (2) to analyze
the causes of the disease, (3) analyzing the prevention of disease, (4) Analyze the
understanding and knowledge of the community and (5) Designing and
developing a model literacy environmental health in the community on the
peatland of Kepenghuluan Bagan Sinembah Timur. This study uses a qualitative
approach with research and development methods. The results of this study are (1)
The environmental condition of the peatland is damaged and the health condition
of the people in peatland is quite low, this is indicated by the presence of
environmental-based diseases such as ISPA, diarrhea, skin diseases and poor
sanitation, (2) Factors that cause disease in communities peatlands in
Kepenghuluan Bagan Sinembah Timur are fires on peatlands, low levels of clean
and healthy behavior and poor sanitation, (3) Efforts to prevent Environmental
based diseases in Kepenghuluan Bagan Sinembah Timur have not been
implemented properly, (4) Lack of understanding, consciousness and knowledge
of the community in peatland about environmental health, and (5) Development of
a literacy model for environmental health in communities on peatland by
incorporating 5 important components to improve health literacy environment.
