Prarancangan Pabrik Etilen Oksida Dari Etilen Dan Oksigen Dengan Proses Dow Meteor Dengan Desain Alat Utama Reaktor Etilen Oksida (R-101)
ABSTRACT
Ethylene oxide (C2H4O) which is also known as oxirane is an organic compound
of the ether group. Ethylene oxide is a colorless gas, has a sweet smell, is
flammable at room temperature and is a highly reactive compound. The main raw
materials used in the manufacture of ethylene oxide by the Dow Meteor process
are ethylene and oxygen. This plant is planned to operate for 330 days/year and
work continuously 24 hours/day with a production capacity of 200,000 tons/year
and will be established in Cilegon, Banten. The design of the main equipment in
this plant is the Ethylene Oxide Reactor (R-101) which functions as a reaction
place for ethylene and oxygen to produce ethylene oxide. The ethylene oxide
reactor was operated at a temperature of 200⁰C and a pressure of 15 bar. The
economic analysis on the design of this plant shows that the ethylene oxide plant
from ethylene and oxygen is feasible to be established with a Break Event Point
(BEP) of 50% and a Payback Period (PBP) of 1.1 years.
