“Pengaruh Sudut Dan Panjang Pisau Terhadap Kualitas Chip Kayu Acacia Crassicarpa Di Chipper 14 Wood Yard”
ABSTRACT
The quality of chips produced with the size of the pulp mill specification is called
accept chip. The uniformity of chips length produced by a disc chipper is keys to
increase pulping performance. A chipper which produced fewer pin chips and fine
chips, while achieving a more consistent length to thickness ratio, would
significantly improve pulping uniformity and pulp consistency. Incorrect
operation of the chipper causes deterioration of its work and increased chips of
different lengths and thus of different thicknesses. Basically, the knife angle is
related to the clearance angle (α) that affects the thickness of the chip, while knife
length is closely related to knife projection (U) which will affect the length of the
chip. The objective of this final project is to determine the right blade angle (β)
and blade length (l) of the chipper for chipping acacia crassicarpa wood using
statistical quality control methods. Based on individual control charts, there is no
uncontrollable deviation from the process so that analysis and improvement are
not required. In this study, the optimal geometric parameters to maximize the
quality of the wood chip acacia crassicarpa is the angle of the blade set at 31o
with a blade length of 150 mm.
