Pengaruh Rasio Pencampuran Dan Revolusi Beating Antara Dissolving Pulp Dan Kraft Pulp Terhadap Tensile Strength Dan Freeness Pulp

ABSTRACT
Paper making has the main quality control parameter, namely tensile strength
and freeness. If a paper has a low tensile strength and freeness value, the
resulting paper is of low quality or easily torn during the paper making process.
While the manufacture of rayon does not require a high tensile strength value but
high purity alpha cellulose and low hemicellulose content. This research was
conducted based on the transition/cooking transition process contained in PT
Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper. The transition process is a compositional cooking
alternation between dissolving pulp to kraft pulp. Due to the transition process,
there is a mixing between dissolving pulp and kraft pulp. Therefore, it is possible
that the amount of dissolving pulp is more than that of kraft pulp. The purpose of
this study was to determine the effect of beating on the value of tensile strength
and freeness after mixing between dissolving pulp and kraft pulp. The research
method used consisted of two factors, namely five variations of the pulp mixing
ratio and four variations of the beating revolution. The research method began
with consistency testing to determine pulp mixing and continues with the
milling/beating process. Next, the pulp formed into paper sheets and physical
properties are tested.The less dissolving pulp content and the higher the beating
revolution, the higher the tensile strength value. As for the freeness, the higher the
revolution beating used, the lower the freenes value. The tensile strength value for
the ratio of 25% AE & 75% KP is 20 - 68 Nm/g and the freeness is 525 - 220
mL/CSF, the ratio of 50% AE & 50% KP is that the tensile strength value is 19 -
63 Nm/g and the freeness is 520 - 205 mL/CSF, the ratio of 75% AE & 25% KP
obtained tensile strength values of 16 - 52 Nm/g and freeness 510 - 190 mL/CSF.
