Sodium Sulfite (Na2so3) Sebagai Alternatif Pengganti White Liquor Untuk Chlorine Dioxide Scrubbing Pada Erco Plant
ABSTRACT
One of the uses of white liquor in the Chemical Plant department is to assist in the
scrubbing process of the tail gas scrubber at the ERCO Plant. The scrubbing
process that is carried out is to remove the remaining excess ClO2 gas. So far, the
remaining ClO2 gas from the ERCO Plant that cannot be absorbed by the chilled
water in the absorber will be scrubbed by a vent scrubber with scrubbing media,
namely chilled water. The residual gas that comes out of the scrubber vent will be
further scrubbed in the tail gas scrubber before being discharged into the
atmosphere. The white liquor will help remove any remaining ClO2. White liquor
contains Na2SO4 (sodium sulfate) which is produced by recausticizing lime kiln
(RKE). An alternative scrubbing medium emerged, namely Na2SO3 (sodium
sulfite). Alternative scrubbing media using Na2SO3 (sodium sulfite) is proven by
bubbling ClO2 gas from the Chlorine Dioxide Plant 1 absorber outlet with
Na2SO3 (sodium sulfite) solution that has been made. The results obtained were
that Na2SO3 (sodium sulfite) was able to remove the remaining ClO2 gas obtained
from the Chlorine Dioxide Plant 1 absorber outlet by decreasing the sulfite
concentration before bubbling and after bubbling. The R2 value of the graph
before ClO2 gas bubbling was 0.8743 and after ClO2 gas bubbling was 0.9721.
