ABSTRACT
Broke is a product formed from paper breaks during the paper-making process,
which can be reused in the paper-making process. But the reuse of breaks must be
considered because it has the potential to disrupt the process due to the difference
in composition with virginfiber, therefore it is necessary to consider the ratio of
broke that enters the paper-making process. filler is a filler that functions to
increase the brightness, bulk, smoothness of the paper. The author will observe
and analyze how the relationship between the strength of the paper and the
addition of filler and also the broke will be varied and how much influence is
caused by the addition of variations in the filler and the broke. The variations
consisted of the first variation of the filler GCC / PCC: 90% / 10%, broke 0%,
2%, 4%, 6%, 8% and the second variation of the GCC / PCC filler: 10% / 90%,
broke 0%, 2 %, 4%, 6%, 8%. based on these variations, the results obtained are:
paper with a content of 0% broke has a higher value of tensile strength, burst
strength, and tear strength than paper that has a broke content in it, and paper
that is dominated by PCC filler has a higher burst strength than paper that is
dominated by filler GCC because PCC itself functions to increase the bulk which
directly increases the crack strength of the paper.
